In humanity's darkest hour, when Jews across Europe were persecuted and exterminated by the Nazi regime, a different story was taking place on one of the edges of the continent. Albania: a small country under German occupation refused to expel its Jewish citizens and protected them at all costs. At the end of the war, there were more Jews living in Albania than before.
As part of the project "We remember! 3.0 - The Third Generation Narrates" project, unique stories of the rescue of Jews by Albanian families during World War II were researched and investigated. For this purpose, young people of Albanian origin in Germany were invited to deal intensively with these stories. They deal with the question of what significance these stories still have for a living and diverse culture of remembrance in Germany today.
